The world’s first pay-as-you-go Storage Hub for the metal industry begins operations

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – 10 March 2025:
Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi – KEZAD Group, the UAE’s largest operator of integrated and purpose-built economic zones, together with its strategic client Metal Park, has announced the launch of Phase One of Metal Park’s state-of-the-art Storage Hub in KEZAD. The new facility introduces world-class storage infrastructure and support services tailored for the regional metal industry.

Located within KEZAD Free Zone, the Metal Park Storage Hub is the world’s first pay-as-you-go storage solution dedicated exclusively to metals, and the first independent warehouse of its kind for metal storage.

The AED 110 million Storage Hub will be completed across three phases, offering a combined capacity of 350,000 MT and 54,000 CBM of shelved storage exclusively for metals.

Phase One spans approximately 93,000 sqm and includes 26 overhead cranes of up to 40 MT, along with 55 loading bays designed for trucks and automated guided vehicles (AGVs). The hub can handle up to 48,000 MT of loading and offloading operations per day. Additional advanced features include vertical storage capability, a dedicated truck loading corridor with a cantilever system, and three weighbridges — two 15-metre units with 150 MT capacity each, and one 30-metre unit also rated at 150 MT. Operating as a gated facility, the hub is equipped with 24/7 surveillance and robust security systems.

Strategically positioned, the Storage Hub offers direct access to Khalifa Port via a modular road, seamless connectivity to the Etihad Rail network, and links to highways that connect Abu Dhabi with the Northern Emirates and the wider GCC region.

Abdullah Al Hameli, CEO of Economic Cities & Free Zones at AD Ports Group, said:
“The opening of this first-of-its-kind Storage Hub marks a significant milestone for Metal Park and for AD Ports Group’s Economic Cities & Free Zones. We are proud to support the growth of a specialised zone within the metals sector that brings exceptional services and unique advantages to the industry. We remain committed to fostering innovative ecosystems that catalyse industrial growth in KEZAD and contribute to the diversification and strength of Abu Dhabi’s economy.”

Saleh Shahrestani, Chairman of Metal Park, added:
“We are pleased to launch Phase One of our Storage Hub — the only specialised warehouse in the Middle East designed exclusively for the metal industry to operate with maximum efficiency.
As the region’s first metal fulfilment centre, it will enable traders and stockists to reduce overheads in a fluctuating market, while supporting manufacturers to expand their distribution capabilities and optimise valuable production space.”
