AD Ports Group backs UAE industrial diversification with new Metal Park at KEZAD

AD Ports Group has signed an agreement with Metal Park Investment ME Ltd. to develop a 450,000 sqm Metal Park within KIZAD. The new hub will serve as an integrated ecosystem for metal storage, processing, fabrication and allied services, enabling companies to scale without heavy infrastructure investment. Located near Khalifa Port, the project strengthens the UAE’s industrial diversification strategy by offering seamless multi-modal logistics, advanced facilities and a flexible environment for metal-industry growth.

AD Ports Group (AD Ports) has formally entered into an agreement with Metal Park Investment ME Ltd. to create an integrated metal industry zone within the Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD). Spanning 450,000 square metres, the upcoming hub will cater to metal vendors, processors, and fabricators across the UAE.

A fully-fledged ecosystem for the metal industry

The new facility will incorporate storage and handling infrastructure, processing and fabrication capabilities, R&D amenities, rental offices, and associated financial services — all designed to support growth without the typical infrastructure burden.

Leadership and vision

The signing ceremony saw the presence of Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamsi, Group CEO of AD Ports; Abdullah Al Hameli, Head of the Economic Cities & Free Zones cluster; and Saleh Shahrestani, Chairman of Metal Park Investment.

According to Mr Al Hameli:

“AD Ports Group is committed to supporting the UAE’s economic diversification goals by advancing industrial development … The metal industry provides crucial commodities for the development of buildings, automobiles, appliances, and tool-making, making it an essential sector for the UAE’s continued growth and prosperity.”

Chairman Mr Shahrestani added:

“Metal Park will revolutionise the steel fabrication industry and transform it into a win-win economy by providing a platform for metal services to be more efficient financially, economically, and environmentally. … Membership at Metal Park will enable our clients to expand their businesses at times of growth with little capital … giving them the ability to reduce their operating costs with ease without the overheads associated with redundancies that traditional businesses in this sector face.”

Strategic location for seamless logistics

Located near Khalifa Port within KIZAD, the site offers a fully integrated multi-modal transport platform — sea, road, air and future rail — alongside competitive utility pricing and world-class infrastructure. These attributes enhance the ability of metal-service businesses to scale and diversify.

Why this matters for industry

  • For metal fabricators and processors: the hub alleviates the need for heavy upfront infrastructure investment, enabling focus on core capabilities.
  • For the UAE economy: the initiative supports the nation’s push towards industrial diversification, underpinned by advanced manufacturing and metal services.
  • For logistics and trade: the strategic platform unlocks regional expansion opportunities with minimal friction.

In sum, the agreement paves the way for a purpose-built ecosystem in which metal industry players can grow, pivot and innovate — within the supportive framework of AD Ports’ infrastructure and Metal Park’s vision.
